Ants are being used as biodiversity indicators to monitor change over time and impacts of restoration and cultural burning. 

Hoverflies are important pollinating flies that mimic the appearance of bees and wasps. The larvae of many species also are significant predators of aphids which harm plants. We routinely survey and identify the hoverflies we collect to monitor their populations.

Pollinators are essential components of ecosystems because they aid plants in reproduction. Key pollinator groups include bees, butterflies, and flies.

The data in this sheet are summarized to demonstrate biodiversity in major taxonomic groups: Phylum, Class, Order, Species.

Molluscs include snails, slugs, and clams. Their role as decomposers and filter feeders in terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems cannot be discounted.
